Problems with a GAF Timberline Roof Installation

Gaf Timberline HDZ Pewter Color – Front View of Roof

    Cupping Shingles

Cupping shingles at the edge of the roof.  Also, the starter is not lapped correctly, with a 6-inch overlap.  Cupping is a problem because it can cause leaks.  The starter is miss install but not that difficult to repair.

    Improper Nailing

Image 1 shows the shingle stagger appears correct or close enough.  There is an exposed nail where the circle is.

Image number 2 is extraordinary; not that sure why this piece of shingle is nailed like this.  These 2 images are in the same area of the roof.

    No Cobra Vent Installed

No ridge vent was installed on this job.  GAF cobra vent would have been the appropriate material to use.  Instead, the crew maintained old power vents.  These certainly wouldn’t ventilate the entire home.

Improper Nail Pattern On Entire Roof

Shingle nail patterns are terrible.  They are too close to the union.

This is a major problem and will cause leaks in the roof.  The nail pattern is not properly spaced over the entire roof.
